It’s been a long journey, but after six years of shuffling my way through sustainable fashion I’ve finally found my place. Many years ago, after finding out about the immense amount of unethical treatment and waste, I did not want to stay in the industry unless I was helping change the way business was done. Creating Sustainably Chic was a way for me to speak on the issues I truly cared about. I knew fashion could exist responsibly, and I wanted to share this with as many people as possible. Sustainability is all about future generations being able to experience the same things we do today, and I would love for them to able to enjoy the art of fashion and support sustainable livelihoods all over the world.
My wardrobe has recently become more interesting because of my pregnancy. I decided in the very beginning I wasn’t going to purchase any maternity clothing because I didn’t like the idea of only wearing the garments for a couple of months. When I add a new piece to my closet, I want it to last me decades. Luckily, I love flowy clothing so my existing wardrobe has been very good to me. I’m working on updating my Fair OOTD section on Sustainably Chic where I will give a glimpse of my closet every Friday. I think it’s important to show how all my pieces interact with each other and transition from season to season.

Monday
Since most of my days are spent in the home or walking around the neighborhood, it’s all about comfort for this pregnancy. I like my clothing loose, and made from natural fabrics I can easily breath and move around in. Roomy tunics and dusters make me feel like I’m still in my pjs without looking the part.
Being a Florida girl who lives right by the water, I stick to sandals most of the time. The Bree Flat’s I end up wearing most of the week because they are a great neutral, yet add a little sparkle to my outfit.
With all these little things I have to do before Elliott’s arrival, I can start to feel a bit overwhelmed. This scarf has a pocket for essential oils so you can carry aromatherapy around with you the entire day. It’s been a great way for me to calm down!

Tuesday
Another pregnant day, another tunic! Since this belly has really taken over the front of me, most of my shirts will now show part of my stomach. I’ve been lucky to have so many long, flowy tunics in my closet because, shirt wise, that’s all I can wear. The Morgana tunic by Thought has to be my favorite!
The leggings I’ve literally had for a decade, and they have some wear and tear, but they’ve been perfect for me lately. I haven’t been wearing much jewelry throughout this pregnancy because I’m usually doing a lot around the house or my hands are swelling {yeah, no fun}. But every once in a while I like to wear a couple little rings and a necklace. All of these pieces are lightweight and dainty which is great for me right now.

Wednesday
Wednesdays are usually my errand days so I like to dress rather comfortable with layers. I love living in Florida, but the AC is serious here. You can’t walk into a building without a sweater or scarf because it is constantly blaring. This lightweight cardigan is great to keep on hand for those instances.
It’s also important for me to bring a large tote and comfy shoes during my shopping days. This tote is made from pineapples, has a really cool texture and is quite sturdy. The sneakers are made from wool so you feel like you are walking on pillows!
Today’s Pieces:
PACT Lightweight Eco-Blend Cardigan | PACT Lightweight Lounge Tee Sassind Cotton Jersey Jumpsuit | Baabuk Sneakers Svala Simma Tote
Thursday
Getting towards the end of the week, I do like to dress up a bit more without really having to ‘dress up.’ This look is more polished then the others without becoming uncomfortable. I still go for oversized tunics and leggings, but not nearly as casual. The choker, cross body and oxfords bring everything together, and adds a little more sophistication to the outfit.
My favorite part of this look is the Tola Legend bag because of its story. With every purchase, you are supporting a month of school tuition fees for an underprivileged girl in Africa. It’s always a great feeling knowing the pieces in your wardrobe have given back to a community.

Friday
It’s the weekend, and all I want to do is go out for a nice meal. This tummy appreciates a fancy, well-cooked meal more so than ever. I’ve been pleasantly surprised to see how well the Evalina Dress has formed to my new body. It’s nice to be able to still dress up when I’m eight months pregnant.
I haven’t given up wearing heels, yet, either. This is because my VEERAHs are rather comfortable even with the added height. Maybe I won’t wear them all day long, but for an outing, they are perfect. The poncho is a nice romantic touch that will keep me warm in the AC.
